STAR Testing Week - No Clubs or Enrichment Classes

Dear Parents or Guardians of Students in Grades 2-5:

All students from 2nd through 5th grades at Magnolia Science Academy 7 will participate in the next two weeks in the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program which is authorized by state law and is an important part of California assessment system.

The purpose of the STAR program is to measure how well students are learning the knowledge and skills identified in California’s Content Standards (CST). The content standards describe what students in each grade should know and be able to do in English-Language Arts and Math. STAR program tests ensure that information about the academic achievement of all students is collected on a regular basis. This information is critical to evaluating the quality of education provided to California’s students and our school. To ensure that schools have the most complete information possible, all 2nd through 5th grade students need to participate. STAR Program test results along with other available information, help school staff form a complete picture of their students’ academic achievement.

STAR Testing Dates

May 7 - 18

You, as parents and guardians, can help prepare your child to participate in STAR testing by:

1. Make sure your child is well rested every day during testing weeks.

2. Arrive at school on time.

3. Make sure that your child eats a nutritious breakfast every day.

4. Change any appointment on testing mornings to afternoons. Testing will take place each morning until lunch time.

Please contact our school if you have questions about California’s Content Standards, the STAR Program, or testing schedule. Thank you for your support of our great school.
